Holiday Inn
Council Bluffs, Iowa
This hotel’s basic floor plan and space is completely unique compared to the brand standard. The ceilings are twice as high. The entry and reception desk area required complete revision to coordinate with the new reception area function.
The hotel represents over 15 years of our interior design services, updating as each Refresh comes along with the Holiday Inn Brand’s requirements.
The fireplace design was our inspiration eight years prior. Changing the lower portion of the fireplace tile brought a new approach. Custom colors are reflected in our carpet and upholstery colors.
We added a more open appearance to the public area by removing stained glass windows between the dining area and the lobby/ corridor, replacing it with semi-transparent shatter screen panels behind the banquettes.
Another new feature is the wrap-around buffet counter. By removing a portion of a dividing wall, we were able to continue the counter completely around the corners. This was a great idea as it expanded space for breakfast dining and continued the use of dining seating in the overflow area. Guests enjoy dining in this area and watching the Missouri River as it flows by. A very popular corner is the business center space with its communal table.
What a wonderful fresh custom look to this Holiday Inn, a little more out of the ordinary like a boutique hotel. It’s a wonderful surprise to the guests who discover this creative space.
