Sea Glass Inspired Master Bathroom
This master bath renovation project gives this fifteen year old home a fresh new look and provides a more functional space. In the beginning, the client fell in love with a very unusual slab of granite, composed of shades of light pewter, lavender, navy and surprisingly, turquoise! Complementing the beautiful granite was the main focus the client requested. The client’s love of ocean visits and seashells were a perfect complement to the color scheme. We located a unique tile of varied shades of lavender, mauve, soft grey to install in the accent niche near the tub alcove.
A beautiful chandelier complements the space, giving it a more intimate feel than the original recessed lighting. Another upgrade was replacement of the dated whirlpool tub. After some research, we found the perfect choice for the client: an attractive oval freestanding unit the client enjoys.
A unique 16” x 24” tile was selected for the floor. The texture is created in an 8” square checkerboard pattern. This eliminated extra grout joints, complemented the marble patterned tile, and gave an illusion of width when entering the master bath.
A beautiful sheer drapery disguises the accessible 42” wide entrance to the closet. This solution made the bathroom entrance more visually attractive.
A low entry to the shower floor made it more accessible and will aid the homeowners as they age in place. We also increased the space of the shower. The vanity cabinet could was increased in width to become more functional. Six more inches made a significant difference in drawer space. Now, the client is able to store towels in a more convenient place. Consolidating storage and creating a more spacious shower will take them through many years.
The feel of ocean colors is woven through the space, creating elegance and contrast to the practical marble porcelain tile. The client now experiences a beautiful bathroom with concealed easy-living features and function. Serenity.
